Jossette Reilly

 
 

Jossette was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and started dancing in the multidisciplinary dance academy at the age of four. Her learning and training in dance have been enriched by influences from a wide range of teachers assimilating contemporary dance, classical dance and classical Spanish dance, as well as flamenco itself. 

 At 14, she met the Spanish choreographer and teacher Antonio Santaella, with whom she spent over 10 years dancing and learning the art of flamenco in Puerto Rico.  In 2001 she turned her horizons to Madrid, Spain and rediscovered the flamenco techniques at the hands of many great masters and teachers.  In this period of time she had the opportunity of working as the Flamenco soloist for the “One Night Only Tour”, with worldwide famous singer Ricky Martin and in Madrid, Spain she joined Flamenco companies such as: “Amor y Odio” Co. with flamenco international top star dancer Joaquin Cortés, & “Las Cosas del Flamenco” with maestro Cristobal Reyes, as well as many “tablao” shows where she was able to work in Mexico, Spain and the US.

 She has traveled to Istanbul, Turkey, teaching workshops and choreographing shows for many years. In PR she has developed her creative work where she fusions flamenco rhythms with Puerto Rican history and musical roots.  Her creative work took her in 2012 to Los Angeles, CA were she worked as a Flamenco soloist guest with Jennifer Lopez, Mark Anthony and Jamie King at their show Q’Viva.

In 2019 she decided to base in Malmö, Sweden. Since then, she has been teaching Flamenco dance locally and abroad. Her recent work includes working with Cullberg Co. in Stockholm. Training the company with Flamenco in connection to Alma Soderbergh’s latest choreography Noche. During spring and summer 2021 she had the opportunity of working as a Flamenco dancer in the duet, Høst, from choreographer Tina Tarpgard in Recoil Performance Group, Denmark.
